A festive Christmas table was decorated for the current December issue of Architectural Digest. The newly designed Salvador Dali room in the Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg in Bergisch Gladbach offers the glamorous ensemble the perfect backdrop and underlines the magnificent atmosphere. Hand-cut glass from Theresienthal and cutlery from Christofle are bedded on an opulent tablecloth made using a light jacquard weaving technique. The design of the Fire Tail fabric by MEISSEN Luxury Textiles was awarded the Best Fabric Award 2015 by Deco Home.
But the main role in this magnificent arrangement is undoubtedly played by the porcelain service COSMOPOLITAN. When designing the new classic from MEISSEN, the Berlin design office was inspired by the opulence and timeless elegance of the silver service of the Grand Cafés. As the name suggests, the series COSMOPOLITAN is a service of the world.
Like a much-travelled guest, it tells of past times, mysterious places and always creates a connection to the here and now. For the Christmas table, FINE ROOMS combined the exclusive decors of hand-finished gold and platinum with classically elegant white. The successful staging is a lively play of reflections, high-quality materials and noble surfaces. Like an omniscient narrator, the MEISSENER figure of the divining sea god Glaukos watches over the protagonist. With pensive contemplation he presents the enticing fruits of paradise. The rich red of the pomegranates and the juicy figs add beautiful colour accents to the metallic shimmering decors.
"We love details and the guests should feel that at this table." This credo also speaks from the personal greeting, in the form of an original portrait drawing on handmade paper, which is available at every place. With his small works of art Markus Hilzinger gives the ensemble a humorous and dramaturgical touch. With this winter magic nothing stands in the way of an unforgettable evening.

The COSMOPOLITAN service can be arranged to suit any occasion, depending on the choice of decor, classically opulent, summery elegant, playfully romantic or graphically modern. In particular, the combination of Royal Palace's graphic pattern with the polished gold and platinum decors creates unique reflections that lend every table a very special charm. The possibilities for variation are as varied as the culinary delicacies that the service offers.
